Default Cayman Islands

The Cayman islands are a very popular travel destination in the Caribbean. Grand Cayman is the most popular destination and has gorgeous beaches and a lot of fun things to do (like the Turtle Farm and swimming with sting rays), plus great restaurants. The only thing i didn't really like about the Caymans was that their location in the middle of the Caribbean meant that you didn't get as strong of trade winds to keep things cool - so it was *hot*. But the snorkeling was pretty good, ocean was gorgeous, and it was a nice trip .

I spent part of my honeymoon on Grand Cayman. It was our favorite part of the trip (we did a cruise, so we had several stops).

We really enjoyed the shopping, and we visited a rum cake factory, the turtle farm, and ****. We mailed some postcards from there; it was quite funny.

We didn't do the stingrays. I was a little afraid of them. I hear most people love it though.

I was scared of the stingrays too but it still was really fun - they feel so soft when they brush against your legs! And we got to feed them too.

I didn't know about the rum cake factory, that sounds like fun.

When we went to GC it was back in the early 90's right before it became a major tourist hub, so things weren't quite as built up back then.

You got to swim with stingrays? What was that like? I mean, I know that they sting if their tail touches you, so that sounds pretty scary, but you can actually swim with them? Can you handle them? Like, pick them up and stuff, or do you just get to swim alongside them and hope that you don't get stung? It does sound interesting.

Stingrays actually don't 'sting' you. They have a barb on their tail but unless they're attacking something it doesn't really get you - they're not like Jellyfish or sea urchins .

They felt soft when their wings brushed against your legs. The guides gave us conch shell meat to feed them. The guide did pick them up to show us their mouths underneath and such, but no one else did. They are fairly large, and you can pet them and such.

I don't really have much to complain about the Grand Cayman Islands (like everyone else around here). But I think the best thing about the Grand Caymans is the world famous, Seven Mile Beach! It can't get any nicer than that!

Scary and sounds alarming.

I agree with you knowing that Grand Cayman's main attractions is Seven Mile Beach on which a number of the island's hotels and resorts are located.
