Charleston is great for a weekend getaway. There's so much to see and do.
Visit historical sites and antebellum plantations or resort-like beaches and championship golf courses.

Folly Beach is a revitalized amusement park area akin to Coney Island. In the East Cooper area, both the Isle of Palms and Sullivan's Island offer miles of public beaches.

With any trip to this southern capital of charm, you must walk the streets of the Historic District on the southeastern tip of the peninsula. Within a few square blocks stand 2,000 historic homes, churches and museums.

Charleston is surrounded on three sides by water and shaded by palm trees and hanging Spanish moss.

Upcoming events:
Festival Hispano – September
Annual Fine Arts Expo – September
Scottish Games and Highland Gathering – September
Pickin’ in the Park Bluegrass Festival – October
French Quarter Art Walk – October
Confederate Ghost Walk – October
South Carolina Storytelling Festival – November
Annual Parade of Boats – December

Hotel rates aren't bad for Charleston either. Good choice for a weekend getaway.

Thankyou so much for all this wonderful information. I have always wanted to go there but have not got to yet. I see that there is plenty to do there even in the winter. Thanks again for all this information.

Charleston is a beautiful and very friendly city. Be sure to check out Mt. Pleasant while you're there. Very classy

Charleston is honestly one of the top 5 cities I've ever been in. There is a lot to do, but it's also very relaxed, the people are friendly, and of course the weather is usually beautiful. I have only been there for business trips, but I would love to take a week or two vacation there. I highly recommend it to anyone though.

After writing in this discussion, I have made up my mind to visit Charleston in near time.
I have few places that I really liked reading of. These are:
Mount Pleasant
Isle of Palms
Folly Beach
My cousin has an old property in Folly beach.
