Default What to wear to a beach wedding?

Is it ok to wear a strapless gown with a cathedral train as a wedding dress for a beach venue? The bride has always wanted to wear a strapless ballgown and hold a wedding in a beach or a garden. Wouldn't want to sacrifice either.

a ball gown at the beach doesn't sound like a good idea, she might see her face covered with the skirt of her dress...

I think a ball gown would be ok as long as there is an isle for her to walk down so sand won't touch the dress.

If I were having a beach wedding, I would wear something light and flowing in the wind. Somewhat casual but not too casual. Comfortable I guess.

White or cream linen, loose fitting and casual. Dress it up with some nice sandals and jewellery, hair up or loosly tied. Carry some long stemmed flowers tied naturally. My sister got married on a beach and this is basically what she and her hubbie wore (well he didn't have the flowers or hair tied up - but you get my gist).
It had a fabulous casual yet special effect.

I think I have a great feeling that I might get married before the year end. I prefer it to be a beach wedding. But then, I want to be married in a chapel on the beach. I still have to look for that one, though. And yeah, light and flowing is good. I might as well wear some white bikinis underneath because I want to go swimming after saying I do.

It's okay I guess, just as long as you don't wear very high heels. Bad on the sand.

Sorry, not sure about the dress. I think she should wear whatever she wants but a good point was made about the dress over the head. So, not sure...
However, I once went to a beach wedding and the bridesmaids wore no shoes on the sand. Instead they had beads on silver thread wrapped around their feet. It looked so pretty and really suited the setting and was practical for them walking on the sand. Just thought it was worth sharing.

You can really get away with anything...I had a destination wedding and the girl wore long and short dresses in all colors...This dress is cute I just saw it on stylechick.com and you can enter a chance to win it. Something like this would be perfect for a destination wedding!
