If you're feeling really adventurous you could plan to honeymoon in Africa. I have a friend who did this (they did a safari) and loved it. It was unforgettable!
It is definitely more off the beaten path and not your typical honeymoon, but for seasoned travelers or those with a daring spirit it is great! And Africa also has some gorgeous beaches that can be visited too if you need some sun. One good country for safaris is Kenya, and I personally enjoyed touring the various cities in Morocco. They don't have safaris up there, but we did ane excursion into the Sahara desert with camels and it was a lot of fun. |

I think a safari would be fantastic and a very different and interesting trip. I'd really like to go one day. I bet there's nothing quite like it.
I know someone who did such a trip (though, not for the honeymoon) and she raved about it for months afterward. It would be truly memorable! |

One neat thing about safaris is that you usually stay in a resort in the wild, so in the morning you wake up to animals close by! My grandparents' safari trip ther hotel room was elevated in the trees so they could see everything (though a disadvantage is that you can't leave the building at night due to safety concerns).

Wow this would be a very unique honeymoon. I bet being able to see all the exotic animals would be amazing.
Danita: How bad is the safety? Is that for the hotels that are in the middle or even for the hotels in the urban areas? |

Africa does have its problems, but so do other countries. You just want to keep out of countries such as Sudan and stuff, where there are people killing each other for no real reason. I would love to go to Morocco. I hear it is beautiful there and the culture is fantastic. When I was a little boy, I did a dance for school that was a Moroccan royalty wedding dance. It was very interesting to learn about all the dances and the culture and stuff. I'd love to make a trip there someday. Is it better to go in Winter or Summer?

You are safer in a hotel in the middle of nowhere than in an urban area. Anyplace you stay should have security guards if you are in an area that warrants them (if you go to Africa you should definitely get yourself a good guide book like Lonely Planet for navigating around, those are well-researched especially for budget travelers).
JayC: I was in Morrocco in the end of March and the weather was fine. I really enjoyed my travels there, especially Marrakech. Tangier wasn't great, it's mostly a port of entry and then people get out of there and go to better places. The giant mosque in Casablanca was gorgeous. The weather did get hot but not unbearable and if you were in the shade it wasn't too bad at all. |

An Africa Honeymoon can be the ultimate romantic getaway. Africa has always had a certain aura and mystery about it that makes it a very special place for a Honeymoon. Imagine a candlelit romantic dinner for two, served in total seclusion, right in the heart of the African wilderness, or lazing back after a day of spotting the big five, staring at the brightly lit stars without a care in the world, listening to the call of the wild.
